The Budgie Memorial Page

As bird owners, we become very attatched to our little feathered friends.  Thus when our beloved pet dies, it causes a great deal of heart break.  This page is for those of you who have lost a budgie and would like to have their memory live on, on this web page.  If you would like to contribute to this page please send a picture (not mandatory though) along with any words you would like to add to celebrate your budgies life.

Buddie and Rhea Remember...

Polo and Tango Summer 2004

The first time we saw Polo the white budgie, was when Radar the budgie we had reserved, was put in the cage with him and he immediately acted as though Radar was his Dad!!  For 5 weeks they were together while we had our holiday abroad.   We were given Polo for free by the petshop as he obviously had problems, his behaviour was very different from other budgies, but he and Radar loved each other so much I couldn’t separate them.  So we brought home the two plus Tango, a lovely young green boy whom we bought to make up for Polo being a little “different” – I knew that Polo might have 6 days or 6 weeks or 6 months.  As it was he lasted with us just under 6 weeks – but we believe his last weeks to be his happiest.  He had lots of company and flight time with his new Budgie friends and my children, we got him hand tame – he was the easiest to tame, played on the floor with them and the toy cars.  He always enjoyed his food.  Then one night he passed away peacefully in his sleep.  He is buried in the garden.

Just over a week later the family went out for the afternoon and returned to find that I hadn’t locked the back door properly and our dogs had got into the house.  They had gone upstairs, taken the budgie cage off my son’s bed, and dragged it into my bedroom.  Radar had escaped – he is a good flyer, he was on the other cage with Rainbow and Pepsi still safe inside, Scooter was still inside the cage on the floor when we found it, but poor Tango was dead at the top of the stairs.  I shall never forgive myself for his horrible tragic death.   He was so young. He was never a good flyer and he just wasn’t able to escape.  Now we shall be keeping the cages on high pegs to make sure this can never happen again.  But we miss him so much – his distinctive squawk, and his funny walk!

He is buried next to his dear friend Polo – we miss them and will always love them.

* Blue *

This is for everyone to see how much I loved my little friend. He was
killed in a terrible way by a cat that got into his room while he was
outside the cage. There was nothing I could do to stop him. I walked
inside, and saw as the cat just watched... and then striked. Every day he
made me laugh while he sat on my finger and flew around my room, looked at
himself in the mirror, or sat on my shoulder, playing with my hair. Now he
is at a better place, and we will be together forever when it's my turn to
go. Thank you for reading this.

~HANK- 1984-1999~

This is to remember a little blue budgie named Hank... he was brought to me out of neglect at the age of 3 when his mate died, and he lived to be 15 years old. He sang most beautifly when he could hear running water. I'll never foget that lovely song. I miss you Hankie-poo, and I can't wait to see you again.

Buzzy was a sweet friend. He chirped on my shoulder and got excited at crumpled paper. I will miss him. I love you Buzzy.

MANAGER'S NOTE: The death of Melanie's Buzzy inspired Rhea and Buddie to create this memorial page.  We would like to send our deepest sympathy to Melanie and thank her for letting us make Buzzy the first entry on this page.
